Cannabis and Muscle spasms
Muscle spasms affect just about everybody, from foot cramps and midnight “charley horses” to strained and pulled muscles. Particular disorders and diseases also trigger muscle convulsions. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) can all cause clients to experience muscle spasms that vary from uneasy to painful.
Muscle Spams are Common
Since muscle spasms are so common, and have so many different causes, from serious to minor, it’s difficult to offer a blanket treatment solution. Sufferers tend to rely on tried and true methods, from traditional prescription medication for chronic sufferers or those with underlying conditions, or through over-the-counter (OTC) remedies. From traditional to natural and homeopathic remedies, to dietary and exercise changes, we all want to reduce the discomfort and annoyances of muscle cramps. They can be painful and interrupt our sleep and activities, so we tend to seek out what works best for us, individually.
As a result, medical marijuana and CBD treatments have become more and more popular as an alternative treatment option, for those who have mild cases, and even those who have more severe or underlying conditions causing these. A particular benefit to using medical marijuana is a significant reduction in adverse side effects and addiction risks.

As the legality of these treatments is increasing across states, and the legality of hemp-derived CBD with less than 0.3% THC, it’s becoming more of an option and more readily available as a more natural and effective alternative to everyday spasms or common muscle injuries, where opioids might be have otherwise been prescribed.
