Potato Sooji is a delightful, light, and easy snack that's popular in India. It serves as a perfect tea-time treat alongside steaming hot beverages. This recipe combines the goodness of potatoes and the unique texture of sooji to create a mouthwatering dish that is sure to impress.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup sooji (semolina)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Going Step by Step

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, sooji, onions, green chilies, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture, a little at a time, and knead it into a soft dough. The consistency should be firm enough to hold its shape but not too dry.
  3. Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into round patties or cutlets.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat.
  5. Gently place the shaped patties into the hot oil and fry them until they turn golden brown on both sides. Flip them occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  6. Once the Potato Sooji patties are cooked to perfection, remove them from the oil and drain excess oil on a paper towel.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
  8. Give it a try and enjoy!

Tips

  • To enhance the flavor, you can add a pinch of garam masala or chaat masala to the potato sooji mixture.
  • Ensure the oil is adequately hot before frying to prevent the patties from becoming too greasy.
  • If you prefer a healthier option, you can also bake the potato sooji patties in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 15-20 minutes until they turn golden brown.

We are sure you are a perfect cook! Nonetheless, do remember to pay attention to the amount of Potato Sooji you consume: it should always be modified based on the strength of your product and the potency you desire. Dosing homemade edibles can be tricky, so it is strongly recommended to start with one portion of a serving. After one or two hours, listen to your body and decide whether to consume more. It is not recommended to drive or operate any machinery when taking edibles. Use responsibly!
