Challah is an incredible traditional Ashkenazi Jewish bread that is often enjoyed on special occasions like Shabbat or Hanukkah. Its soft and slightly sweet texture, along with its beautiful braided appearance, makes it a delicious and visually appealing treat. In this recipe, we'll show you how to make a cannabis-infused Challah that is sure to elevate your experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cannabis-infused butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 6-7 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten (for egg wash)

Going Step by Step

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Add the melted cannabis-infused butter, remaining sugar, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until the dough starts to come together. You may need to adjust the amount of flour slightly depending on the humidity of your kitchen.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into three equal parts. Roll each part into a long rope, approximately 16 inches in length.
  8. Pinch the ends of the three ropes together and braid them, tucking the ends under. Transfer the braided dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the Challah with the beaten egg yolk, ensuring an even coating.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
  12. Give it a try and enjoy!

Tips

  • To enhance the flavor, you can sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top of the Challah before baking.
  • If you prefer a sweeter bread, you can increase the amount of sugar in the dough.
  • Challah is best enjoyed fresh, but you can store it in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze it for future use.

We are sure you are a perfect cook! Nonetheless, do remember to pay attention to the amount of Challah you consume: it should always be modified based on the strength of your product and the potency you desire. Dosing homemade edibles can be tricky, so it is strongly recommended to start with one portion of a serving. After one or two hours, listen to your body and decide whether to consume more. It is not recommended to drive or operate any machinery when taking edibles. Use responsibly!
