A brand-new twist to this iconic Mexican cuisine

Ingredients

  • 2 dried ancho chilies
  • 2 dried pasilla chilies
  • 2 dried mulato chilies
  • 2 tablespoons cannabis-infused oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground anise
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • Salt to taste

Going Step by Step

  1. In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the dried chilies until fragrant, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from heat, let them cool, then remove the stems and seeds.
  2. In the same skillet, heat the cannabis-infused oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until golden brown.
  3. Add the diced tomato, raisins, almonds, and sesame seeds to the skillet. Sauté for an additional 2 minutes.
  4. In a blender or food processor, combine the toasted chilies, onion mixture, cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground coriander, ground anise, vegetable broth, and sugar. Blend until smooth.
  5. Pour the mixture back into the skillet and cook over low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add salt to taste.
  6. Once the sauce has thickened, remove from heat and let it cool before transferring to a jar or container.
